Minnie & Mickey Room

Typical Day Routine

Hello, we are Paige, Tash and Lille who are the Practitioners who work with the Minnie and Mickey’s. This group of children are aged between 2 to 3 years old.

When you join our room in the mornings be prepared for our wake and shake to get everyone active, followed by our circle time to welcome all children on the day.

In our room we like to teach the children independence, and by doing this the children are able help themselves to their morning and afternoon snack they are still assisted in the serving by one of us but independence is the key.

The children are taught the simple steps that they have to follow before they start. First wash their hands, finding their name, finding a seat and pouring their own milk or water and choose their snack then when finished putting it all away. We also have name tags with their pictures so that they can begin to recognise their own name.

We offer a wide variety of equipment at the children’s level for easy access. We have a mark making area, which is available at any stage of the day ranging from a mixture of resources such as, pencils, sand, playdough, crazy foam and much more. We also have a computer station available for the children’s use with educational fun software for them to play and learn with.

The children have permanent access to the outside space which is just through the double doors and our class room equipment is mirrored outside for all those children who would prefer to play and learn outside as well as in.

Thank you for taking the time to read a small amount of what we do.

The Minnie and Mickey’s love to role play and dress up and we have different themes every week, the children have chosen the themes by being given choices. We have had many themed weeks such as Winter Wonderland, Easter bunnies and even haunted house. Role play is very important for this age as they learn so much through play and creating their own ideas.
