18 Burford Road,
I have worked in a Nursery environment for 13 years mainly with this setting. I started as an Apprentice and have recently become the Setting Manager.
My Role as setting manager is to be responsible for the day to day running of the Nursery and School Clubs. Childcare isn’t like any other work place on one hand it is as professional as any insurance brokers, bank or doctors surgery but we are caring and educating babies and children, and so quite often it appears to be very different from those other environments but the responsibility and legislation is the same if not more stringent.
We pride ourselves here in strong family values, I actually enjoy the family feel of this particular setting because how many other work places do you know where you can wear your slippers! This is not to say the job is easy.
As Setting Manager, I am the Safe Guarding Officer and I work very closely with the nursery SENCO to support and assist children with special educational needs.
I oversee the day to day planning of the setting and along with my team ensure the children are stimulated through the activities that are provided.
Mostly, I like to make sure that all children feel loved, happy and content as much as they can being away from their parents.
The main purpose of my role is to work very closely and support the Setting Manager and to assist in the day to day running of the nursery and school clubs.
I also run the Breakfast, Afterschool and Holiday Club. Children attend from Reception until they leave primary school. I have been in childcare for the past three years and I have really enjoyed it. The job can sometimes be challenging but so rewarding. Seeing the children develop and progress throughout the years is amazing, the bonds you make with the children are so strong. To know that you helped them grow and have assisted in the care they need is so fulfilling.
